Question

Taking the top off of 5 GAL drum


Is there some trick to taking the top off of a 5 GAL paint drum? I have tried repeatedly but this thing is not coming off.

Taking the top off of 5 GAL drum


Did you pull off the plastic strip that goes around the bottom of the lid? If you still have trouble you can get one of these:

Taking the top off of 5 GAL drum


if it is the metal cans, use a screwdriver and pry up each flap. If plastic follow last post's suggestions.

theres a metal one on the market that i prefer.It has a point on it so you can cut the tab and also open gallons with it.I could not find a pic of it though

some were similar these ones run about 7-8 bucks cdn
Anyway anything is better ,Sometimes i,m opening 50 pails a day
