Now, this might sound dumb, but mind you I would like to know what other people think/suggest before I actually go ahead and complete this project.
I recently bought a desk off of Kijiji to refinish for my bedroom. A while ago, I had come across these beautiful scrapbooking papers and had the idea to use them as a stencil for the surface of my desk.
Now the papers are regular scrapbooking paper material, would it be okay to paint over them and use them as a stencil as is? Or, would it be a better idea to transfer them over to a material better suited?
I do have several of the stencil papers, but I'm not sure if painting over the paper as is would work.
Hannah, welcome. There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people:laughing:. But, I don't think you're one of them.
You could adhere them right to the desk as is and laminate over them, like decoupage(sp). You would have to avoid using latex products that might damage the paper or cause inkbleed. If you went to a Michaels, or other crafts store, they could set you up with everything you need. I would test the color fastness before committing yourself.
