Stripping Solid Paint off of Cedar Front Porch

Hi,
I used Home Depot's BEHR solid paint on my front porch about 2 years ago. With snow and the weather in MN, the paint is peeling slowly at some spots, and many peelings at the steps. I've read many methods of removing the paint to stain. Many have recommended sanding? Many have recommended power wash it? WHen I applied Behr's paint, I did not use primer. Will i be better of power washing it, rather than sanding it?

If I use stain after stripping it, what is the best product to use to stain? Sherwin Williams? They have 30% promotion in the next few days.

Stripping Solid Paint off of Cedar Front Porch

In order for stain to work every speck of paint has to come off. Any place it's left will not allow the stain to soak in.
One way around it is to use soild stain, that way the spots should not show.
A stripper like Peel Away II would speed things along, followed with sanding.
