Stripping paint from exterior brick

I just purchased a home with peeling white paint over the brick. Thankfully it is only on the front face of the house and only the first floor. I want to remove the paint and see how good the brick looks underneath. What suggestions do you have for stripping?

If power washing works well will it damage the grouting between the bricks (the house was built in 1940)?

You could try a product called Peel Away. It has a joint compound texture. You apply with a trowel then cover with their special paper, let sit for 24 hrs then remove paper and all paint comes off attached to paper. I have used it occasionally and found it to work very good. However, I have never used it on brick. Check with S.W. I believe they carry it. Good Luck

The only method I've run across for stripping paint off brick that leaves the brick bare and in good condition (for a resto rather than re-paint) is a water/media-blast

It is absolutely not a DIY project, sorry
