Staining vs just sealing preserved wood deck?

I have a new deck made of PT wood. It has been a number of years since I last owned one.

Would it be ok to just seal it rather than use an oil-based semi transparent stain as I did last? Both, I know have to be repeated each year, but at least clear sealer won't show stain irregularities/blotches as it wears out each season.

I read also that I should wait at least 2 months for the wood to weather.

Or have stains improved in the last 30 years?

Grateful for any feedback. I'm in the wet Pacific NW.

A translucent is fine, but will only last about a year. A semi solid stain will last a few years if you prepare the surface properly first and use a quality stain, you won't have blotchy spots if you prepare the surface properly and apply the stain correct, a semi solid has more pigment than a translucent, so it will provide more uv protection and is more durable, proper cleaning using a quality deck cleaner and low pressure is key. Sanding may be necessary too
