Staining Maple and Alder windows and doors

I am building a new house. Interior doors and trim will be Knotty Alder, prefinished. Stain color is called "copper", which is kind of a medium cherry.

I can get some exterior doors with Alder interior, and windows (Anderson 400's) with either pine or maple interior, but not alder.

I will want to match the prefinished Alder doors/trim.
First question: Would pine or alder be the better choice for the windows to come closest to resembling the alder?
Second question: If maple, from what I read, staining maple to darker tones is somewhat difficult, and some recommend dyes. I have only used brush on or wipe on stains so far. I have a standard spray gun (not HVLP) with modest experience, but none for staining.
