Spray or Roll - or contract

I have a 40' x 60' workshop (new construction) sided with HardiePanel that I need to paint in the coming months. The HardiePanel came pre-primed. I plan to paint with an exterior grade latex.

I am trying to save cash and do the job myself. In addition to this job, my house also needs painting...

Here's my questions:

1 - Should I spray? If so what would be a good, cost-effective sprayer to buy? Brand/model/approximate cost?

2 - If sprayed does it required "back-rolling"?? (Not real sure what that means - but if it means rolling after spraying - why spray in the first place?)

3 - Do I just cut-n and roll it? (UGHHH!!!) Can you say "contractor"?

Thanks

Spray or Roll - or contract

hey uo.

you can rent a sprayer for a day. they are about 75.00 at home depot.
It is faster, it is messy and it uses more paint.
You do need to backroll if you want a nice finish.
as far as cutting in you can pickup some small paint trimmers from shurline at home depot.

good luck

This job will take me a couple days doing it myself... for what I'd pay to rent I'd just assume purchase a good mid-range spray rig - then I'd have equipment to use when I paint my house next.

Never used a spray rig so I'm looking for some good advise on which direction to go on this job... Thanks for your suggestion.

Anyone else have advise on my dilema???
