Spray Paint Wont Dry

Hi

Yesterday I spray painted the plastic handle from my air pistol black, it originally had a brown finish. The paint went on fine, and I applied 2 coats, waiting 45 minutes between each like it said on the tin. However it has been 24 Hours and the surface is still sticky to the touch, does anyone know why this is?

I was contemplating running some very fine glass paper over the surface very lightly, but I don't know.

I am supposed to be going target shooting in about 6-7 hours and I need it to be dry by then.

Any advice appreciated

You'll probably want to wrap it, since it is probably already time for you to go.

Need some details. What kind of paint? What brand and model pistol? What was the weather like? Did you prep the handles, or at least clean with thinner or xylene? I never had good luck with painting air guns. You may need to look into aftermarket grips or molding your own. Maybe try rubberized coating instead - better grip and not sticky.

The paint I used was Plasticote Fast Dry Enamel but I have stripped it all off now.

I didn't clean the grip very well, and I believe this could be the problem. I may try to spray it again later.

The model of the pistol is Weihrauch HW70
