Spot Priming or prime everything?

I am painting trim and columns on the outside of my home. Last week, I pressure washed everything and removed quite a lot of peeling paint - now bare wood is showing in places. Yesterday I sanded (feathered) all of the paint on all of the spots that were peeling. I think all of the paint is latex.

I purchased some oil based primer (Sherwin Williams A-100) and their new Duration paint. They recommended the oil based primer. After some reading, it seems that the sanded areas should be spot primed. I was planning on priming everything. Now I am a little concerned about putting an oil based primer over latex paint. Is this OK?

Even if I spot prime, I'll have some of the primer on the latex paint. I really wanted to get this done today.

Thanks

Yeah putting an oil based primer on latex will be fine. You should only need to prime the spots after sanding and feathering.
