Solid GRAY STAIN for pine furniture?

While we were at the store picking up Sikkens SRD for our exterior cedar, we saw their color display for Benjamin Moores Arborcoat stains and felling in love with the wide selection of colors ESPECIALLY the grays!

We have an ikea solid pine bed frame that we wanted to paint gray. Originally with latex but I'm thinking solid stain might turn out nicer. Issue is the salesmen said he would not recommend using exterior stain for interior purposes. Then he said the only interior gray stain he knew of was by Minwax Pastels which apparently is now discontinued due to VOC laws...

Are there really no gray stains for interior purposes? thanks!

Cabot makes interior stains too and besides having premixed colors they also have custom colors.
