smart prime / 1-2-3 plus

Just a heads up to the painters out there. We have had some issues with the new zinsser smart prime / 1-2-3 plus (same product different label). We have had two instances where water stains bled through the primer and top coat - even after 2-3 coats of primer. Spoke to Rustoleum tech support and they checked the batch and claim the product is performing as advertised and it "should" work.

I know I talk to the walls and ceilings a lot, but even after telling this particular water stain that the SMart Prime "should" have covered it, it still had the nerve to bleed. Was looking forward to something fast drying and low odor that would actually work - guess there is no sub for good old BIN. The can claims this new product has the benefits of a solvent primer but just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

That's latex primer for you. IMHO it is really only good for clean new drywall.

Check out the Zinsser Bulls-eye. Shellac base, should stop the rascal.
