We want to paint our living room. Most of the elements in the room are bright colors...blue, green, and red. My husband wants to paint the room a light color like a light grey, or a pastel. THIS IS JUST WRONG!! Isn't it? Shouldn't it be a darker/brighter color to go with the other elements of the room? He says it's a background color so it shouldn't stand out, but it will stand out if it doesn't match the color scheme of the room. Am I right?
Sorry to side with your spouse, but I'm with him. A neutral will really make the bright colored elements of your room really POP! Make sure you pick a neutral/light color that is the same temp as the brights (are they 'cool' or 'warm'?).
Good luck! It took my husband and I year to find a sofa we could both agree on.
