Sikkens Rubbol Dek Discontinued

I have a deck already painted with the original oil rubbol formula from Sikkens and now I cannot get my hands on it anymore now that it has been officially discontinued. I called Sikkens and they say their Solid Dek version Oil/Acrylic version will work over the original. In your expert opinion do you think this will work and not peel prematurely on me? Wouldn't the acrylic elements in the formula not stick to the original oil finish?

Sikkens Rubbol Dek Discontinued

It works fine. We've been selling the acrylic Dek and Siding products for a while now with great results over the old finishes. I've been asking those I've sold it to how things worked out because I was expecting Sikkens to drop the oil solid deck product just like they did the siding product.

Are you going to clean it?

The oil/acrylic should work fine but you may want to ask them if they advise a cleaner or pretreatment.

Prep is the same as any other Sikkens product. The new bonds to the old without issues. Oil outside weathers down quickly enough that there aren't generally any issues with adhesion to the surface if it's cleaned properly.
