semi gloss too glossy

How can we get some of the gloss off our newly painted semi gloss walls?

Welcome ettellamp, simple answer, paint them with a lower gloss paint. Not to sound like a wise a$$.

Hiya Et...

If you chose a semi-gloss as a desired finish, and it was just painted this weekend, then let it set a few days before deciding it's too glossy. Semi-gloss finishes will "tone down" several degrees by the time it's done curing - And once you've got all your furniture moved back in and the window coverings hung, it may be just the finish you thought you were getting.

Unfortunately, if it's still too shiny even then, refer back to JSheridan's post...

Chris, I'm with you......I can't recall the last time I painted walls with Semi-gloss. I rarely even use SG in bathrooms anymore. Unless you have outstanding drywall work, those imperfections are gonna flash through. But, to each his own.......and, maybe they were "sold" on the SG from a Behr salesman at Home Depot.

Remember latex semi takes 30 days to cure to its sheen.
