Have a small ranch style home, exterior color is tan with black shutters and black front door, red brick crawl space. Need to repaint the deck, side entry porch and small front porch. What color should I paint?
Pretty tough question for us to answer without pictures. Most of us are gonna jump your case about painting a deck as this is usually the worst thing you can do with a horizontal surface exposed to weather and foot traffic. Semi-transparent stain is the best option, but if you painted it before you are stuck with a "repaint option." Just use a Porch and Floor enamel (satin or low sheen to keep it from getting slippery) in a neutral color that will tie in with tan, black, and red brick.
And you say repaint the deck? Are we talking about a deck or porch surface? I painted porch floors all the time and will not climb on you for choosing paint over stain. For covered porches.
I, like Gymschu am assuming you have some sort of floor and porch paint on exposed decking--not porch floor surfaces. This is not a good idea. Are these surfaces covered?
Is it in decent shape but you do not like the color? If it has been painted with a floor paint, you should probably stick with a similar product. I really like Benjamin Moore's floor and porch paint products. Oil based is urethane reinforced and waterbased is epoxy reinforced.
Is the house color going to stay the same color? What other colors, like those in roof tiles, should we know about?
I hate to sound like our bubba Joe but pictures would help in this instance.
