Sealing pine knots before painting

I am going to be painting some exterior knotty pine siding and want to seal the knots so they do not bleed through. I am going to use a shellac based primer to spot prime the knots, then a coat of latex stain blocker primer on the entire surface before my finish coat. Will this do the trick? Any other sugestions for sealing the knots?

If you just used shellic on the knots then the shellic based primer you would save a step.

Good to go, despite what Mr, Joe says.

Shellac is what you want for the knots but my next step would be a full coat of oil primer.
