REVIEW: Motsenbocker's Lift Off Paint & Varnish Remover Stripper
PROJECT TASK: Remove paint on basement laundry room floor in preparation for tile.
I recently used Motsenbocker's Lift Off Paint & Varnish Remover Stripper to remove paint from my floor. The house is 50 years old and there were at least three layers of paint put down over that time.
1) Use a thick coat. A thin coat is basically useless.
2) Although advertised as Low/No VOC, you will want to ventilate well. I hooked up a leaf blower to my dryer vent for ventilation.
3) We put newspaper over the thick coat to help it soak into the paint.
4) 5 minutes clearly wasn't enough for the thick basement floor paint. We let the thick coat sit 2-4 hours.
If I was doing another floor with this, I would check the contractor desk and see if I could order gallon jugs instead of the 64 oz. bottle. You needs lots of it.
BOTTOM LINE: It worked well when a thick coat was used. Most people that don't like it probably used a thin coat.
I did not want to use a grinder since the paint probably has lead in it and I did not want to create a lead dust storm inside my house.
