resizing painting


how to get painting off backing board? I need to shorten a painting by 1/4 inch to fit frame. it is glued to a press board.

resizing painting


Use a straight edge clamped down and a drywall knife by passing several times over your cut line. This will reduce any damage to your painting and will make a clean cut.

If it is really nice art don't mess with it. Take it or send it to an art gallery that has a master framer hiding in the back. Happy to provide names if you need them.

You could always make the frame bigger. 1/8" isn't much to open the rabbet up a bit.
