Repairing and refinishing black night tables
Had previously posted this question under 'Home Decor', then saw this Main Topic...suppose it should have been here instead. Have photos but...can't seem to get them to show up here...
Here's my question:
I would like to find out how to repair corner damage, nicks and surface damage to black bedside tables. They seem to be made of a coated chipboard material...not solid wood. There is a thin black coating on top of the chipboard made to look like wood. One corner has been damaged to reveal the chipboard underneath, the top surface finish has been damaged slightly in one area (not sure how), and a couple of nicks along the front edge. They aren't expensive tables, but other than this damage, they are in good condition. Does anyone have any advice on how I can go about repairing the finish? roxanne
It sounds to me like you had a laminate surface. You could try a repair kit. You may also have to build up the area with a epoxy to fill in.
Most larger home stores have similar products here is a example
