repairing paint that is peeling from plaster walls?
i have a wall in my house that keeps peeling, no matter how main times i re patch the wall, it keeps peeling. There is a radiator right below the spot and a window right above it.
Can you explain how i can fix this problem and not have it continue to peel once i patch and paint it again. I have fix the area many times but it continues to crack and peel.
I have two pictures that shows the peeling below:

Looks to me like the window or steam from the radiator is getting into the plaster. You need to address that issue.

Be sure you are priming all you scrape off.

Could be you have a calcimine paint - and nothing will stick to it.

Check your window and make sure you're not leaking water from the window into the wall.

If you repaint in the summer time does it last longer? If so, the radiator may be an issue.

What is the condition of the plaster underneath?

The condition of the plaster is in good shape, good and solid. the major thing is that the paint and joint compound peels. but the plaster is fine. Could it be that its not griping the plaster. Maybe prime the surface first, of course remove all the loose stuff. i dont think there is a water leak. I dont think i ever primed the surface before i put the joint compound and paint on.

What kind of paint are you using?

If you can wash the wall without destroying the plaster with something like TSP then it will remove any contaminants that are on the wall. Remember to always rinse after the TSP. If you think the plaster will come off with the solution, then prime it with a good primer. I recommend Zinserr primers if they are available or Benjamin Moore's freshstart. It appears to be an adherence issue, in which case a good primer should help.

However, if you are noticing water coming down from the window or excessive steam from the radiator then your problem is not the paint/primer and that is the bigger issue to get dealt with.
