Removing paint on victorian coving

Im trying to remove about 10 layers of paint off an orignal plaster coving in a victorian house and am struggling. Is there a quick and easy way of doing this?

Removing paint on victorian coving

In a word Will ...no

Are you using paint stripper? or just scraping ?

If you get a good paint stipper 1-2 coats should remove most of it. I recommend taping off with plastic sheets very old clothing good long rubber gloves, plenty of ventalation and may God bless you with a lot of patients.

Cheers Alan

P.S. Always have running water available, and if you even think you might have some stripper on wash-off.

Removing paint on victorian coving

Alan,

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have however found a new paint striper called peel away. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who want a easy way of removing paint. All you do is paste this stuff on the surface you wish to remove the paint, put the paper supplied over the paste leave it for 24 hours, then peel the paper away. once done waste it done with vinegar. job done.
this stuff is good.

cheers

Will

An added note about peel away striper. It is supposed to be a fairly safe way to remove paints containing lead.
