Remove paint

Welcome Hipgranny, to the best DIY'r site on the web.

Mark

I am sure one of our paint experts will chime in soon. Sounds like you tried to paint over a glossy oil based finished without using a primer first.

I would say, but I am not an expert, that you will have to remove as much of the unstuck finish as possible, by scraping, and then apply a primer such as Kilz to the wall to secure and prep the wall for its next coat.

I also usually paint over the previous color but prime it first, right?
