removal of rust on an old cast iron tub


how do I remove rust from an old cast iron tub...all i want to do is display it in my shop and I would like to remove the rust on the outside of the tub then paint it

If it's just light rust, some steel wool may do the trick. If it's fairly heavy rust you can use some sandpaper or a wire wheel disc on your drill to take it off.

removal of rust on an old cast iron tub


Remove the rust, fill in the pitting with bondo then spray with rusty metal primer (it also comes in gray not just a redish color) then epoxy or enamel paint.
