Refinishing Tub and Tile ?

Greetings--

This is related to painting... so here goes...

Comments on refinishing an old, built-in cast iron tub ? No damaged spots-- just no longer shiny and a bit stained.

I've called a commercial place that will do this as well as seen kits in stores. Comments ?

What about refinishing tiles-- spray painting them somehow ? We've got a bathroom that has good tile on the floor and walls-- its just a 1960's powder blue.

Refinishing Tub and Tile ?

One the tub... are there kids in the house that are under say, 13 or 14 years of age? If so, don't expect the 'refinish' to last. Most refinished tubs I've seen go about 5 years then need to be refinished again. For best results, spray, don't paint the stuff on. Follow the directions to the letter for best results.

Another option for the tub is to have a liner installed. There are companies that specialize in this popping up all over the place. Most $$ but a longer lasting solution.

Refinishing Tub and Tile ?

look in the yellow pages for a tub refinisher. They usually also do tile. Double A is correct usually lasts around 5 years. But after he is done it will look brand new. Actually i fixing to have one of my bathtubs refinished. I was also thinking about the tub liner. But some guys like them some don't.

Refinishing Tub and Tile ?

Update question--

Should we go ahead and finish out the rest of the area around the tub-- tile, ect before refinishing it-- or wait until all the construction around it is done before tackling the tub ?

Refinishing Tub and Tile ?

I would do it before. This would proabably be less prep for the guy not having to worry about any new tile around it.
