Question

Refinish doors in fifties house

Bought a 1955 fixer-upper almost 2 years ago. I want to refinish 5 old interior doors that have the original stain and varnish on them. I would like to sand them and use some kind of semi-transparent dark golden oak color glaze. I am hoping for something kind of simple and one step. I keep checking the web with different combinations of words but must be dreaming there is such a thing. Has anyone found a product like this? I know when I went to a local paint store for a green glaze for my new front door I got looks like I was crazy, and left with a green stain and polyurethane varnish.

Refinish doors in fifties house

they make one-step stain/varnish combinations in many brands, opaque and transparent. may i suggest an Ace Hardware (better service, more experience than most bigbox stores) to assist you finding the right colors? but what do i know? i'm just a mouse.....

welcome to the forums!
