Reasonable Quote!

Hi,
I am from the UK and purchasing a property in Cheboygan Michigan and just trying to find out if a quote for painting all ceilings of $1700 is reasonable:

The property is approx 1450 square feet on one level and comprises of living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The last owners were very heavy smokers.

I have been told that the ceilings would require a coat of Kilz primer and then a final coat of emulsion.

Any guide to a fair quote would be greatly appreciated

kilz primer is proper for problem. know that stain burn through is still possible, but 2nd coat of kiltz at burn through and repaint should take care of the problem if it happens.

price is in line for the work. cheap if you have lots of contents to cover.

Thanks for the info, would the ceilings have to washed/cleaned first do you think!

Clean & properly prep surface to be primed and painted should be a part of every painting contract.

Trust your painter on this. Tobacco soot likes to smear when wet cleaning. If problem is light then a broom cleaning might be ok if very heavy in areas a chem sponge might be used.
