Do you mean Ace Hardware?

Answer your question?

I like Ben Moore, SW and a little from each other brand of paint. I heard Frazee is ok, but its Cali based paint. I used a quart once because the home owners had it stored in their garage and I always wanted to try it. Ace Royal, if you are speaking of this paint, is very poor in performance.

yes ace hardware.
A home depot type shop sells it in bulk.actually I think they have used up their shipment and don;t sell it anymore.

what's SW?

we get ben moore over here but's it rare because we have a really reliable brand called dulux.Any american stuff is expensive but AWESOME. BIN sealer is fantastic.

for instance, the label is 100% accurate because there are people lining up to sue for millions if you print something wrong on the label.
We can put all kinds of rubbish on anything we make , it doesn't matter no one's gonna sue.

Sherwin Williams

Best? Hmmm... depends. I think one criteria that sets the different paints apart is the length of time the manufacturer has been in business. I mean there is some correlation between the performance of the brand and the time they've been around and it is no coincidence that companies like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams have good quality paints throughout their lines, as opposed to say an Ace Hardware or a Home Depot over here who buy paints as a commodity to make themselves able to sell more to the homeowner.

I remember when I visited paint manufacturers, that the bigger names out there had huge budgets for research and development - and therefore they were anxious, avid learners about new products and new technologies put out by the big chemical companies like Dow, Rohm&Haas and Eastman Kodak...even these guys put billions of dollars into reseach into new chemicals...so by extension, there was a 'partnership' between them and always new improved products coming out that reportedly "did better" than the competitors - at something...and they had the tests to prove it.

So their products were 'better'. That led to: "this product XYZ is better than other products for spreadability"...or "this product ABC is better at hiding than this product"...and invariably the company that put more into their products sold more because this became a selling tool.

We have CIL-Dulux up here, by ICI. There's another company well known in the field. Up there with the big boys but a far cry from the rest of the store brands. My advice? stick with the big guys. Whatever line of their products will be better than most.

The paints you have down there are "expensive" partly because of freight costs; if it costs the same to ship a cheap paint as a good paint, why not save yourself the hastle of buying twice?

I am not a professional, but I just used Behr from home depot do do a couple rooms. The paint goes on horribly and you need a lot of coats. Even then I still had to do touch-ups throughout because of streaking. And the blue painters tape took up a lot of it and made it peel (it literally chips off the wall with your finger too). It's not cheap either, but I learned a lot by reading some of the blogs on this site from the pros (thanks fellas!). So now I am going to go with SW or BM, I would rather pay for quality than have a poor job that you will just have to do over again anyways.
