Question re/ Hydraulic fluid for airless sprayer

An old Graco EH333 Airless sprayer has recently been thrust upon me. It's old but I've been led to believe they are very durable. It started and the piston went up and down so I'm better than halfway home. I've been getting ready to start it up for a longer test and I have TSL but I need hydraulic oil for the piston & lines. Man @ SW called Graco, they said to put in 1.5 gal. AT $25/gal it's getting expensive (I'm unemployed which is why I have the time the PAINT the house but LITTLE money with which to do it!)

It's gonna work but at what cost? New seals for the piston are about $
Can someone suggest an alternate supplier to Graco, What is the "magic" in the fluid that costs so much? Does anyone know the ISO value or viscosity of the fluid? I've tried the local SW, they tried but ...........

So I'm looking for advice on hydraulic fluid for the sprayer and any sites/links/forums that may be of asistence in getting the sprayer rehabbed.

Thanks
paulfr

Brake fluid!!

Brake fluid!!!!! I say ah BRAKE FLUID!!!!

What a great idea. Any particular DOT type or grade. I googled and Autozone has 1 gal DOT3 for $16. That's 36% less than Graco. Guess I'll use this. Thanks for the great tip. BTW how long have you been using brake fluid in your sprayers? Just checkin :^)
