My first post here! Just want to say there seems to be some good knowledge here.
I am getting my house ready for painting. Replacing some siding, corner boards and facia boards. The house was last painted around 6-7 years ago. I know that's a long time to wait to paint but I have only lived here for 3 years. I have been busy remodeling the inside.
My question is do I need to prime the siding before painting? Will a light sanding be ok with two coats of paint? The paint on the house now is in good shape. No peeling, just faded. Thanks for any help!
No primer needed for re-painting
A light sanding and two coats should be just fine
(assumming it's latex over latex, which it most likely is)
Any bare wood, like replacement siding or trim should be primed
Or any bare spots on the re-paint
