Question about Beadboard

Hi All - I'd like to get some input on an idea I have and ask if anyone's ever done it:

I have a nice kitchen with a 3-wall nook section for a table. The previous owners installed beadboard on these three walls from floor to ceiling. The only other beadboard in the kitchen is on the outside of the island facing the nook.

To save time and money, I thought that it might be a neat idea to add a chair rail to the beadboard walls and leave the bottom white and paint the top the wall color of the rest of the room.

Would this look odd? Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks for the input!

Question about Beadboard

I have never seen this done, but my gut is telling me it wouldn't look good. Might be better to paint all of the beadboard a color that contrasts with the other walls, rather than try to break it up.

Question about Beadboard

not so sure it will look good. If it were me, I would remove the bead board below the chair rail or vice versa. Just my opinion.

Question about Beadboard

I have run into bead board under the chair rail only not entire wall and when bead board and chair rail are properly prepped and finished with the trim paint it all looks good. If your bead board is not tore up you should be fine, only thing that may look a bit not right is the rest of the wall that you are wanting to finish with the wall color.
