Proposal/bid contents

I am retired, but do my share of interior painting as extra income. I have worked by word of mouth referrals mostly, so my clients tend to be neighbors or friends of neighbors. I have not had any problems with "contracts" so far, but I would like to prepare a document that would protect me in the world of "what if?" Any suggestions on details I should put into my proposal (other than specific work to be done)that would specify what I am responsible for and what I expect the client to be responsible for. I have read some of the posts in the Pro Painters forum that demonstrates a need for this type of protection. Thanks.

You should look into carrying liability/contractor insurance/bonding.

I use this software for at least rough drafts of contracts. It has more than paid for itself. If things are complex I have an attorney look things over.
