Priming Unfinished Oak
Hey guys, new on here so I hope this gets to where it needs to. I am building a storage unit out of cabinet quality unfinished oak. I will be painting a valspar off white latex kitchen and bath latex paint. I have already used aerosol kilz, oil-based, sanded went well with nice fine dust. I do not want to use aerosol again, it cost too much for the lack of coverage. What should I use for a second coat of primer? Oil based or water based latex? Brand names would help too. Thanks in advance.

There is no need for a second coat of primer.
Why are you using "valspar off white latex kitchen and bath latex paint" |
We wanted the same look and finish that we have on our bathroom vanities, so we are using the same paint.

That's gonna be one expensive storage unit.

Wife originally wanted to stain the piece, that's why such a high quality wood. Then she decided she wanted it painted...

Suggest to her that a distressed look would really look nice and beat that new oak with a heated chain before you paint. :icon_cheesygrin:
