Of course it is. It doesn't mean it's cheaper to use primer (as you tried to claim) nor does it mean it's always necessary.

Which primer/sealer?


Funny thing...

I (acting as the OP) didn't ask IF I should use a separate primer/sealer...I asked WHICH primer/sealer would best fit the described scenario. So, all the arguments for the paints which don't require a separate primer turn out to not be the right information, because it didn't address the original question.

Actually it did. You asked several questions, including if you should prime once or twice. After priming your walls due to wallpaper glue, you do not necessarily need to prime over the joint compound you patch with, depending on the type of paint used, etc.
