primer drying too fast

I started to prime new wood moulding this morning and it's drying way too fast to work with. It's hot and a little humid today so I'm sure that's the problem. I'm using kilz oil based stain blocker primer. Would a little mineral spirits help extend the wet edge time? thanks

How hot/humid is it?
I would wait for a cooler day.
If you dilute the paint then your results may suffer.

Try using Penatrol. It is an alkyd base paint extender or go to a long-oil (slow drying) undercoating primer.

Thinning primer is a no-no. Never tied penatrol in primer but I would run that by manufacturer first. Works great in alkyd enamels though.

Why do you need a wet edge on your primer for, isn't it going to be sanded after?
