Which primer is better?

I have new drywall to prime and have two products left over to choose from, Zinsser Fastprime2 or SW Drywall primer. The first says it is an all-purpose primer. Would that be better than just a drywall primer. What is in primer that would make one better than the other and why? Thanks

Either will work fine.
There are many problems that primers fix. Sealing up drywall and making even porosity between the mudded parts and the bare rock is one of the most basic.
And what sheen you are finishing with will make a difference.

I like Drywall Primer from SW for new sheetrock. You get just the right amount of "soak in" which gives you a perfect surface to apply your topcoats.

The difference between All-Purpose primers and those tailored for a specific substrate is like the difference between a shotgun and a rifle. All-Purpose products tend to be excellent in some application and so-so in others. Go for the one that says "Drywall Primer." It is engineered for that specific substrate: new, unpainted drywall.

They've sold it for quite a while at my local Ganahl Lumber, Ace Hardware, Orchard, and DoitBest. Ganahl is the closest to being considered a big box store.

As for Home Depot, I doubt they would bring in BM since it would overshadow their excellent *GAG* Behr product line. ;)
