Primer with adhesion for 140 year old boards with knots.

Hello--I am painting a newly sanded pine floor which is 140 years old. My question is, do I need to worry about the knots bleeding, or can I assume the wood has stabilized. Also, if I use BIN which is shellac based will it offer the same adhesion to the wood as oil? This is preferable since it's a floor.

I would "Paint" the floor as a last option and look more into stain & poly. What does the floor look like now?

Latex Primer: Good for Drywall, that's about it.
Behr Paint: The plastic buckets are good, that's about it.

Why in the world would you ever want to paint it?
Plan on having to go back every year and sand and paint agian in any trafic areas.

I have had painted floors in my previous home. Wasn't pine flooring though. Hardwood flooring in industrial white in a farmhouse style....wear rating was pretty good.

I think the issue that others have not alluded to is the fact that pine is just ~soft~

Modern quality floor paints like Benjamin Moore's Porch, Floor and Patio have oil based finishes with urethane reinforcement and acrylic ones with epoxy. They will hold up as well as clear poly with urethane. The acrylic paint has a bit less sheen to it.

Primers are generally not recommended for floors.

In answer to your question. The knots should have aged so they don't bleed but you can hit them with shellac if you want to be sure. BIN will work too but I think is overkill for this.
