Prepping foundation for paint?

The foundation on the back half of my house has not seen the light of day in a long time. It faces East, but I have a LOT of trees in my backyard, plus I finally finished clearing out the area right in front of the foundation, it was severely overgrown.

The paint that WAS on there is severely peeling and once I go over it with a brush there will probably be barely any left.

Besides cleaning up the area (what do I use?) and digging down aboug 6" before I paint is there anything I'm missing?

I get 40% off at Sherwin Williams so I plan on just asking them for plain white foundation paint - anything wrong w/ that?

Thanks.

Prepping foundation for paint?

First scrape all the loose paint off, then wash the foundation walls off, prime with Loxon masonry primer from SW, top coat with a quality 100% acrylic paint, I would use SW Superpaint

You are seeing the results of NOT using masory specific products. Either masonry primer or masonry paint will on a sound surface will last a very long time. It soaks into the masory and ill actually fill the voids and give you superior adhesion.
