POPCORN You gotta love it.

Fla. temps in the 90šs, a/c working hard, drain hole plugs up. 3 calls this week alone leak in ceiling. Patch drywall, fix popcorn, prime and paint. Not 1 would go for removal. Go figure!

Toolseeker, you would think they would wise up after having to have that STUFF patched. Sure is a lot easier to patch flat, no frills ceiling instead of that STUFF. Job security for you!

I had that rough popcorn stuff on my kitchen ceiling, but after removing an old chimney and a partition wall- the other side of which was a "mud room" with boards for the ceiling, I sheet rocked the "mudroom" area and then textured the ceiling with drywall compound using a notched trowel and a wide wallpaper gluing brush in a semi circular sweeping pattern.
Hard to see the overall pattern but I like how it turned out and it took care of the problems effectively, fast and cheap.

It's just amazing that after a good sized patch it would be easier to remove but they say no.

They like it. I have patched a lot of ceilings with my little electric hopper and most of the time it turns out really well. Some like the texture and want to keep it.If it's done right in the first place it bonds well unless there is a leak.
