Popcorn Ceiling Repair

We have a popcorn ceiling in one of our rooms. There was some water issues and the ceiling was blistering. We fixed the roof and now the ceiling needs to be repaired. We have already peeled/scraped off the blistering and loose material down to the substrate, which appears to be a plaster ceiling. I've primed over the plaster ceiling and was thinking of using the Behr Popcorn texture paint to fill in the gaps created by the damage, let that dry and then run over the entire ceiling with the texture paint. I'm wondering if this is a good course of action. Will the texture paint fill in the gaps so that the ceiling is generally a similiar thickness and can I put the texture of the rest of the ceiling so that the repair is not noticeable? Will the texture paint go over what is there now?

Popcorn Ceiling Repair

You have the right idea, just go to a paint store and stay away from anything labeled Behr.

Thank you for the input! Unfortunately, we have already bought and started using the Behr product. Hopefully it will stick.

Behr just plain sucks

"better to leave the walls bare than put Behr on the walls"
