poly floor problem

My living room has hardwood parquet tiles that I sanded, re-stained in spots and applied 3 coats of Minwax high build oil based gloss poly. Starting 2 months later, areas of "lifting" started showing up. it looks like bubbles of non adherence even in areas that receive no wear. I believe that each of the three coats were given more than ample time to dry. It was VERY humid when I did the work. Is this my problem? How can I fix it and how can I prevent it from happening to a second room that I plan to restore? Any help much appreciated.

Did you clean the area after you sanded? It sounds like there could have been some residual wax from cleaner or polish that was used. You're going to need to strip the problem areas with paint/varnish remover and start over. I would mask off the areas not getting worked on before starting the process. Wiping the area down with lacquer thinner or mineral spirits will remove any wax residue. I have done interior staining on new construction projects in very humid weather and have not had problems, so I don't think that was the issue.
