Picking a primer

I also have existing walls with paint on them already. I want to prime everything (obviously the new drywall needs primer) so that I will get a good, consistent finish when I get paint over everything. What type of primer should I use?

Matthewt1970 Member     Join Date: Sep 2008 Posts: 1,489	Picking a primer Zinsser Bullseye 123 is about the best you can get in a latex primer. Benjamine Moore Freshstart is also good.

It stops moisture to your attic almost 3 times better than latex. Or use a special vapor barrier paint ---- almost 13 times better than latex for stopping moisture. Be safe, Gary __________________ Clothes taking longer to dry? Clean the dryer screen in HOT water if using fabric softener sheets. They leave a residue that impedes air-flow, costing you money. Clean the ducting in the last six months? 17,000 dryer fires annually!

A low voc stain blocking, adhesion primer that's great for new drywall or previously painted walls. It will give your top coat a consistent finish and it also dries fast.
