Perfect Ceiling Edging?

First time posting, hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. I just bought a house and we will be repainting the bedroom. The rest of the house was obviously painted by a pro, because all the ceiling lines are perfect.

I'd like to duplicate those perfect lines. Is there a tool I can use to help me? This room has popcorn ceiling and it just doesn't seem possible for someone to do such a perfect job and get such sharp lines totally by hand - against a textured ceiling. Doing this with a brush always ends up getting paint on the little dimples hanging down from the ceiling.

I've tried the edgers before, and those are pretty terrible. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

A good brush and a steady hand:wink:

That's what I was afraid of!

I bought one of those paint boards for $5 at HD. I'm going to try that out I think midway up a couple walls to see how it works. If not, I'm going to have to work on the patience part.

I bought some Purdy brushes at HD too, so hopefully I'm good on the brush part.

Thanks!

I tried all the tape and edgers, gave up, bought a Purdy brush and practiced. Take your time and see what happens.

A good brush as already stated, (purdy is an excellent choice) practice, patience, and a steady hand. The more you do it, you'll get faster at it and be able to cut a ceiling in perfect every time.

When painting a popcorn ceiling thin your waterbourne paint with flowtrol. I find it easier to work with on a popcorn ceiling when adding flowtrol.
