peeling sheetrock while removing wallpaper

I am removing wallpaper and some of the outer cover of the sheetrock has come off.

When you get everything off, wash the walls down to get as much wallpaper paste residue off as possible. Then apply a coat of GARDZ. Gardz will seal the peeled areas and give you a uniform and bondable surface again. Then skim coat with drywall compound to fill in and level the wall. Prime again and paint with two coats of finish. You can use a good bonding primer over the skim coat and do not need Gardz for that. Zinsser 123 or Benjamin Moore Fresh Start would be possibilities.

+1 on the above...to a tee. Oh, and it sucks. My kitchen was half completely peeling wallpaper that would come off by simply pulling it off and half "welded" wallpaper that came off only with the drywall attached. And yes, that was with wallpaper remover and the holes scored into it.
