Following a previously repaired damp issue, I repaired a bathroom ceiling that was suffering from flaky paint.
These are the steps I took:
I scrapped away all loose paint
sanded the ceiling smooth
damp wiped the area
sealed with pva
applied plaster skim to areas that needed to be made smooth
once dried applied a further coat of pva
once this had dried, the following day, I applied 2 coats of damp sealer (solvent based)
The following day I applied an Anti- Condensation paint (International brand).
6-7 months have now passed and the ceiling paint is starting to flake again.
Have I done anything wrong and how should I go about repairing this now to ensure this does not happen again? The bathroom ceiling is drywall/plasterboard.
Which layer is the flaking peeling to? What is the brand of the solvent-based damp sealer? What is the product number of the Anti-Condensation paint that was used? Which "plaster skim" did you use? There is a reason for loss of adhesion. Answers to the questions help us in determining a probable cause.
