i sprayed a popcorn ceiling in my master bedroom, and i wanted the edge of the ceiling to be flat, so i taped off the ceiling about 3 inches in all around the room, then sprayed the ceiling and peeled the tape off. the ceiling paint came right off in a majority of spots.
i am fully aware that there are several reasons why this may have happened, but i'm not sure how to get this flat edge around the ceiling any other way.
for now, i really just want to know what the possible ways to fix this would be? do i have to fill and sand the areas where the paint peeled off? if so, what filler is appropriate to use as a filler?
the original ceiling had popcorn about 30 years old, which i scraped down, then primed with one coat of kilz general purpose, then used one coat of a flat latex ceiling paint, i believe it was valspar, the purple coloured stuff.
thanks.
