Pearl/Pearlescent paints- info/tips?

Considering a pearl finish like Valspar/McCloskey Translucent Pearl Glaze /Opal Glaze. It would be in a bathroom with a glossy natural stone (granite) and Italian cracked tile. There are also other brands/options.

My questions are-

1. if you've tried one of these effects what are your tips and
2. where are there any good pictures/info online- I could find almost nothing through Google.

Thanks!

Hey Dizzy,
Metallics are very misleading. Ralph Lauren samples look great on the sample card, but what they don't tell you is their samples are sprayed, however they recommend using one of their textured rollers, which by the way does not end up looking like their samples. Valspar seems to be on the right path with their system, however their product dries extremely fast. If you experimented a little by adding Flotrol by Flood to retard the drying time, it might work. I have found small areas (wall space) seem to come out the best. I would recommend a helper working with you on your project. Even with two working at warp speed there is no time for coffee. At $40+ per gallon there is no room for errors. I believe Valspar offers a video, a good investment.

With all the best of luck.
