we have cream colored wall in bedroom now; would like to paint a light green. We have Behr paint with primer; but do we need to use a primer like kiltz first?

Clean thoroughly and sand lightly with fine grit paper to lessen gloss and improve adhesion. With Behrly paint, plan on three coats to cover properly. If you get by with two you will be extremely lucky. You could use a decent primer like Zinsser 123 and then you might get by with two coats of Behr. If you use a primer, you might as well tint it to 40 percent or so of the color formula.

No such thing as paint and primer in one. It is but marketing hype and sadly Behrly paint is not the only one jumping on the bandwagon.

If painted already with a latex paint- and no big repairs- no need for primer.
Latex adheres to latex just fine.
