patched a 3" hole in drywall

on a high-gloss bathroom wall.

How to feather the new paint over the patch with the existing shiny coats?

Thanks.

You are going to have to paint the whole wall to make it look right

easiest thing to do is paint the whole wall that the patch is on. paint with a sheen doesn't touch up to well without showing.

Simple things never are. Fact.

to add to how to- after patching sanding priming- I would also spot prime with finish , then do whole wall. A gloss almost always needs 3 times to go away. And spot with same as surrounding area- roller if rolled, brush if brushed for right texture.

good luck!!
