painting wicker with interior paint

I can't afford to purchase spray paint and have a can of rust colored paint that I would like to use to paint my two pieces of wicker furniture on my porch. Can I use this?

Read the can, if it's for metal, or says prevents rust on the can I would not use it.
I see no way just one can would paint a whole wicker chair anyway.

I tried to paint a wicker set we had years ago.
I used white paint on a white set and it was a royal pain.
I would not try to change the color of the set unless you've done this before.

I would rather use a paint thinner eyewash, over and over again, than hand brush wicker with can paint. That would be ridiculously difficult and make one serious, dripping mess, on the way to giving you a totally unacceptable result. Live with it or splurge on the spray.

Joe, all oil based paints are required by law to state that they are to be used on metal substrates only. At least in the states where I practice. It's part of the ridiculous global warming reaction. It's just words, the paint, once spec'd for wood, is the same. Besides, why can't you use a metal finish on wood?
You just can't use interior paint on exterior surfaces.

Are you sure?

Paint thinner eyewash. That's a good one.
