painting in very low humidity

I painted a cieling and it turned out to have lots of roller lines and uneven coverage. Normally I am good at painting and don't have these problems. It has been very cold here in Michigan and my humidity can only get to 16% rh even set on high. I'm thinking that the paint is drying too fast. Should I wait to paint it again when I can get the humidity up to at least 25%rh or should I look for other reasons for my problems?

Hey cep,
I would venture to say your ceiling has many coats of latex flat paint. It wouldn’t matter what the humidity is, the more coats you continue to apply the more roller marks you’ll create. You must seal the wall or ceiling to stop the absorption of the finish coat. Prime the walls and ceiling using a good quality vinyl primer. That will slow down the drying time and make the finish more even in appearance.

Thanks for the response. Your right there are many coats of paint and I did not prime it, just did some minor repair and wiped it down. I will give it a light sanding then prime it first.

Hey cep,
Just out of curiosity where in White Lake are you? I'm in Highland. Any questions, give me a call, via website.

I live on Cooley lake. You can see my house from the corner of Cooley lake road & Union lake rd. Thanks I'll let you know if I run into more problems.
